The smooth strap has a 4mm padding at the lug end going down to around 2mm. Despite being reasonably padded the strap is also rather durable and has a waterproof lining. It is very similar to the Hirsch Liberty but not as expensive.

In my search for a quality water-resistant leather strap I found these. A Zuccolo Rochet Cio (ZRC) 'Super Sport' calf based, water-resistant strap.
The straps have matching stitching, are quite padded (around 4mm at the thickest point and 3mm elsewhere) whilst also being very soft making them comfortable on the skin.

What would be the holepart on a buckle type strap has several grooves on the underside.
To attach the two pieces undo the 'crocodile teeth' clip on the buckle part and feed the grooves into the clasp until you get the required length.
